An Illinois woman was charged for allegedly stabbing her mother in the head on Thursday, Feb. 13, in Vernon Hills, Ill., according to ABC 7, Fox 32 and Local News 8.
Sashary Almanza, 20, was arrested after she allegedly stabbed her 46-year-old mother in the head on Thursday morning. Officers arrived at the Vernon Hills in the 900 block of Jackson Court around 7 a.m., after a 911 call reported a woman was stabbed by her daughter. Ten minutes after the initial call, Almanza was located about half a mile from the residence. Almanza was then arrested, and authorities recovered the kitchen knife she allegedly used in the crime.
Almanza was charged with two felonies: aggravated domestic battery and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Fox 32 reports that, as of Wednesday, Feb. 19, she remains in custody at the Lake County Jail.
Almanza’s mother was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Ill. She was treated for a stab wound to the head and was later released.
