How It Happened
The shooting occurred just before 11 a.m. during a study hall session, where students from different grades were gathered. According to Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes, a second-grader had the courage to call 9-1-1 to report the shooting.
When officers arrived, they found multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Sadly, a teacher and a student had already lost their lives. Natalie, the shooter, reportedly used a 9 mm handgun and turned the gun on herself after the attack. She was taken to the hospital but was pronounced dead on the way. Officials are still investigating the exact cause of her death.
The Victims
In total, six other students and one teacher were injured in the shooting. Two of the students are currently in critical condition and are fighting for their lives.

Right now, authorities are working to piece together what led to this tragedy. There are rumors about a social media account connected to the shooter, but Chief Barnes stated that those rumors haven’t been verified yet.
