A tragic shooting at the Abundant Life Christian School in Wisconsin on Monday, December 16, has left two people dead, six injured, and a community in shock.

What Happened?
The incident unfolded just before 11 AM when a second-grade student called 911 to report a shooting. Police officers arrived within minutes, finding multiple victims with gunshot wounds and Rupnow deceased at the scene.
Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes later confirmed during a press conference that evidence suggests Rupnow died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound while being transported to the hospital.
The Victims
While the names of the two victims who lost their lives have not been released, officials confirmed that six others were injured. Out of the six:
- Two students are in critical condition, battling life-threatening injuries in the hospital.
- Four others sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Two of them have already been released and are in stable condition.
The Alleged Manifesto
A document titled “War Against Humanity” has surfaced on social media, allegedly linked to the shooter. According to reports, the six-page Google document was shared online by someone claiming to be Rupnow’s “online boyfriend.”
Chief Barnes addressed the document, saying:
“We’re certainly aware that it’s been posted and the person who posted it, alleged to have a connection with the victim. But at this time, we have been unable to verify its authenticity.”
The FBI has been brought in to assist with the investigation as police try to determine whether the document is legitimate and what motivated the attack.
The Shooter and the Investigation
Natalie Rupnow, who reportedly preferred to go by the name “Samantha,” was a student at the Abundant Life Christian School. Investigators believe she used a 9mm handgun during the attack, which police recovered from the scene.
Officers are continuing their investigation, interviewing Rupnow’s parents, who are cooperating, and searching her home for additional evidence. Authorities are working to uncover the shooter’s motive and what led to the tragedy.
Community Reaction
Chief Barnes described the event as a “sad day for our community and for our country,” expressing his condolences to the victims’ families and everyone affected by the tragedy.
President Joe Biden also responded to the shooting, calling it “shocking and unconscionable” and urging Congress to take action on gun violence to prevent further tragedies like this one.
