Mitchell didn’t hold back. “At this late stage, Elon Musk jumped into this,” she said. “Nobody asked for his input, but he still posted over 100 times on X. Now, people are asking—who’s really in charge here? Elon Musk or Donald Trump?”
Lawler tried to brush it off, saying that Trump was clearly the one leading the charge. He then turned his attention to President Joe Biden, who’s still in office for a few more weeks, shifting the focus away from Musk.
The conversation took another turn when Mitchell brought up the idea—floated by some Republicans—that Musk could even replace House Speaker Mike Johnson. Lawler dismissed this outright.
“I support the speaker,” he said. “Trying to replace him is ridiculous. Without a speaker, we can’t get anything done. If people want to certify Trump’s election on January 6th, we need a speaker in place. Fighting over this on January 3rd would be a disaster.”
