A 61-year-old man in Missouri was arrested for allegedly shooting and killing his son on Christmas Eve during an argument about his wife’s suspected affair.
Harold Luster is charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action for the death of his 26-year-old son, Kevin M. Ward, in front of Ward’s fiancée.
The incident happened around 8:55 p.m. on December 24, 2024, at a home in High Ridge, Missouri, about 25 miles southwest of St. Louis.
According to police, Luster got into an argument with Ward’s fiancée, accusing her of knowing about his wife’s alleged cheating and keeping it a secret. During the argument, Luster reportedly threatened her, saying, “Do you want to get shot?”
Luster then retrieved a gun from his home. Ward asked his fiancée to get him a knife for protection and told her to leave and call 911 if anything went wrong. As she left, she heard Ward trying to calm his father, saying, “You’re not going to shoot her.”
Luster allegedly responded, “You want to get shot instead?” before shooting his son in the forehead, killing him instantly.
Police later reviewed security footage from a neighbor’s camera that showed Luster raising the gun and firing. He was arrested and is being held without bond.
