Hight was wanted for murder and gun-related charges linked to the December 11 shooting of a child inside a home on the Ute Mountain Ute Reservation in Towaoc, Colorado.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had issued a warrant for his arrest on December 19 and offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to his capture.
Navajo police had been searching for Hight in the Oljato area since December 21. Authorities have not released many details about the shooting, but the FBI described it as a “targeted” attack on a residence.
The 7-year-old victim was identified as Zamias Lang on a GoFundMe page created to support his family. The page described Zamias as “a bright and loving boy” who was “taken from us far too soon” by senseless gun violence. As of December 27, the fundraiser had collected $26,000 to cover funeral expenses.
It is not yet known if Hight has entered a plea or has a lawyer to represent him.
