A 24-year-old man, identified only as Arshad, has been arrested after the bodies of his mother and four sisters were found in a hotel room on Wednesday, January 1.

The victims were identified as Arshad’s sisters Aliya (9), Aqsa (16), Rehmeen (18), Alsiha (19), and his mother.
Deputy Police Commissioner Raveena Tyagi stated, “The bodies of five people were found in a room at Hotel Sharan Jeet. Local police arrived, and a man named Arshad, aged 24 and from Agra, was detained.
During initial questioning, he admitted to killing his four sisters and mother due to a family dispute. Further investigation is ongoing.”
Police are also questioning hotel staff for more information. Joint Commissioner of Police Babloo Kumar added that the bodies showed signs of injuries, including wounds on a wrist and the neck of some victims.
The investigation will rely on these findings, witness statements, and the post-mortem reports to uncover more details.
According to The Hindustan Times, the family had checked into the hotel on December 30 to celebrate the New Year. Arshad allegedly drugged their food and drinks before carrying out the killings.
“The investigation is ongoing,” Kumar said in a video shared by the Press Trust of India. “There are visible wounds on some of the bodies, and we are looking into every detail. More updates will follow.”
