Jennifer’s family discovered the tragic scene during a welfare check and alerted police. Officers arrived at the home around 7:19 a.m. and found the couple’s bodies.
According to Brandon Police Chief Joseph French, it appears Brandon Sheffield shot Jennifer before turning the gun on himself.
The case is being investigated with help from the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the Crime Scene Unit. Police are still gathering details.
A friend of Jennifer, Faye Lott, told WLBT that the couple had recently separated and were starting divorce proceedings. She expressed shock at Brandon’s alleged actions, saying he had never shown any signs of violence.
“I was with her when they met, and I’ve always admired how much he loved her,” Lott said. “It’s hard to understand something we will never be able to.”
The couple had two children, according to Jennifer’s obituary. However, details about the children’s whereabouts at the time of the incident were not released.
