Jenny’s father spoke directly to Kraig during the sentencing, saying he hopes Kraig lives a miserable life in prison. Kraig’s own daughter said she doesn’t feel safe with him out in the world.
Kraig’s sister, Kris Norton, expressed her sadness over the situation. “Kraig isn’t just my brother; he’s someone I deeply admire,” she said.
“What he did doesn’t reflect who he truly is. It’s heartbreaking that this tragedy has caused so much pain and anger in our family.”
The killings happened on August 27, 2023, at the Four Aces Bar in Superior, Montana. Surveillance footage captured the events.
The video showed Kraig and Jenny sitting at a table. Kraig went outside, smoked a cigarette, grabbed a gun from his wife’s car, and came back into the bar. At 9:19 p.m., he pulled the gun from his waistband and shot Jenny in the head as people ran for safety. She fell to the floor, and he shot her again. He then aimed at Logan Gardner, shooting him multiple times as Logan tried to escape.
After the shootings, Kraig put the gun on the bar and left in his wife’s car. Police arrested him shortly after when they saw the car driving erratically on the highway with a flat tire.
During his trial, Kraig testified that he acted out of anger after Jenny told him she wasn’t going home with him. “She said she was going home with Logan,” he claimed.
At his sentencing, Kraig apologized, saying he loved his children and missed Jenny, who he called “the love of my life.”
Jenny Benson was remembered as a loving mother and hardworking professional. She owned a horse stable, worked as a real estate appraiser, and had a deep love for her family, dogs, and horses.
Logan Gardner was known for his kind and friendly nature. A GoFundMe page described him as someone who could brighten anyone’s day with his smile and warm embrace. “He was a great listener and friend who would help anyone without hesitation,” the page said.
Now, Kraig will remain in prison for the rest of his life, leaving behind the grief and pain he caused to two families and a community.
