Six days later, on January 10, Fayetteville police found her body in a wooded area and confirmed it was Heather. They are treating her death as a homicide.
Heather, who had cognitive impairments and a limp from a 2015 car accident, was considered endangered.
Her sister, Mary Williams, shared that Heather worked hard to live a normal life despite her challenges.
Police believe the car Heather entered may have been driven by someone she met online. They found the vehicle and identified the driver, but no arrests have been made.
Authorities are investigating leads, including a 3-minute phone call Heather made before she went missing.
Heather’s family is pleading with the public for help. “Someone knows something,” Mary said. “I pray they come forward so we can get justice for Heather.”
