According to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, a parent of one of the children noticed in October 2024 that their child was acting “lethargic” and “irritable.”
Blood tests done on two of the children in December showed high levels of Benadryl and melatonin.
Sheriff’s Office spokesperson B.J. Williams said a pediatrician ordered the blood tests after a parent expressed concern about the children being unusually tired and irritable.
The tests revealed that both children had high levels of Benadryl and melatonin, though the amounts were not dangerous.
The investigation found that the children were allegedly given these medications daily while in the care of Young and Edge. The children had been attending the daycare since November 2023, but the behavior changes were not noticed until October 2024.
It was also discovered that Young was not licensed to care for more than two young children. She was given a cease-and-desist order on January 7, 2024, after the investigation began. The investigation is still ongoing.
Young and Edge were arrested on January 13, 2024, and charged with four misdemeanor counts of reckless conduct. They both posted $5,200 bail and were released.
