News reports say family members described Mundle as a very kind woman who loved her grandson. They said he stabbed her thirteen times in the chest in her apartment.
Holness told police, “She had to die. She was a sacrifice,” as they took him to a hospital because he had cuts on his hand.
Besides the chest wounds, police also found cuts on Mundle’s eyelid, arm, and stomach, as well as bruises on her eye and leg.
The court documents say that Holness admitted he stabbed her in the eye and sent the photo to his family to show them he had killed her.
One family member told police they got a call from the grandmother’s phone and were shocked to hear Holness on the other end, saying he had killed Mundle.
The family member said they didn’t believe him at first, “but he then sent a photograph of his deceased grandmother lying in her bed, covered in blood, and appeared to be dead.”
Another family member started recording their phone conversation with Holness after getting the photo.
In the recording, the family member asked Holness, “Christopher, let me speak to your grandmother.”
Holness replied, “She’s no longer with us.”
The family member begged Holness to call 911 and asked why he had hurt his grandmother.
Holness answered, “Like I said, she was a sacrifice. A sacrifice for God.”
Holness said he “loved” his grandmother during the call. The family member told police that Holness had been diagnosed with schizophrenia, but they didn’t know if he was taking his medication.
Holness is scheduled to appear in court for a hearing on January 30th. It’s not known if he has pleaded guilty or not guilty to the murder charge.
