An Ohio father was arrested for allegedly killing his daughter after a heated argument about smoking inside their home. Franklin Thompson, 64, is facing a murder charge in connection with the shooting of his 24-year-old daughter, Heather.

Deputies responded to a 911 call made by Thompson’s other daughter, who found Heather shot. They performed CPR at the scene before Heather was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The shooting reportedly stemmed from a disagreement over smoking in the house. “It apparently revolved around smoking in the house,” said Assistant Prosecutor David Hickenlooper. After the argument, Thompson allegedly shot his daughter multiple times and left the house.

Police later found Thompson walking near the home with a gun in his pocket and blood on his clothes. He later admitted to shooting Heather, according to the arrest report. Family friends were shocked by the tragedy, describing Thompson as a good father despite the shocking crime.
