Earlier January, a mother in Georgia was charged with second-degree murder and child cruelty after her baby son died from burns caused by a hair dryer.

When a deputy arrived, he found the mother, 31-year-old Morgan Creel, standing at the back door. She told the deputy that her son, Carsynn Creel, was in the back bedroom. The deputy found the baby unresponsive, with his onesie partly pulled down.
While trying to revive Carsynn, the deputy saw severe burns and discoloration on the right side of the baby’s body. Morgan said she was trying to warm her son’s feet with a hair dryer but fell asleep. When she woke up, her son was unresponsive, so she called 911.

An indictment from WAGA, an Atlanta Fox affiliate, says Morgan left the hair dryer on near her son while she was under the influence of drugs, causing him extreme pain. Police found a device for smoking marijuana on the back porch.
In October, nearly a year after her son’s death, Morgan was arrested for driving under the influence while out on bail. She was driving erratically and blamed it on sneezing when stopped by police. She was so intoxicated that police had to stop her sobriety tests for safety reasons and then arrested her.
Morgan was taken to the Coweta County Jail on January 24. As of Thursday morning, she was not listed as an inmate at the jail, and it is unclear if she has a lawyer.
