Deputies responded to a call from the victim’s daughter, who reported that her stepfather was armed with a rifle and had stabbed her mother.
When deputies arrived at the townhouse, they found Devalcin lying face down at the top of a staircase, unconscious but alive, with a neck wound. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Inside the master bedroom, authorities discovered Pierre dead on the bed with a stab wound to her neck. Blood covered the bed, and a bloody knife was found on the floor. Investigators noted the knife matched a sheath found in the kitchen, suggesting it was taken from there.
Witness Accounts
A roommate told investigators she heard screaming and went to the master bedroom. She saw Pierre bleeding but was pushed away by Devalcin when she tried to enter. Frightened, she went back downstairs.
The victim’s daughter recalled that her mother came home around 1:40 a.m. and told her goodnight.
Later, she heard her mother screaming, “Help! He is trying to kill me.” Concerned, the daughter left her room and headed toward her mother’s bedroom.
When she arrived, she saw her mother bleeding and calling for help, instructing her to call 911. The daughter followed her mother’s instructions but, upon returning to the bedroom, noticed her mother was silent and surrounded by more blood.
According to the affidavit, Devalcin then stood up, grabbed a knife, and said, “No one messes with me.” The daughter managed to stay safe while waiting for deputies to arrive.
Suspect’s Injuries and Arrest
The affidavit did not clarify how or when Devalcin sustained the cut on his neck. He is currently being held without bail as authorities continue their investigation.
