The baby has a medical condition called tuberous sclerosis, which causes tumors to grow. She was prescribed a medicine called carbamazepine, but doctors stopped it because they thought it was causing seizures.
However, the police believe the mom continued to give the baby this medicine, even though it was harmful. They also found other medicines in the house that the baby shouldn’t have been given.
The mom also tried to hide what she was doing by moving a camera away while she gave the baby the medicine.
The prosecutor said the mom’s actions caused the baby to have serious health problems, including needing brain surgery.
The mom’s lawyer said the baby is still having health issues and argued that she should be released from jail while she waits for her trial.
The police arrested the mom on January 16th. She faces several serious charges and could face a long time in prison if she is found guilty.
