A disturbing surveillance video shows the driver of an Amazon delivery van hitting a woman in Baltimore — and then driving away after briefly checking on her.
The 29-year-old pedestrian can be seen crossing the street in the Butchers Hill neighborhood at around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18, according to WBAL-TV. In the video, a blue Amazon van slowly hits the victim and drives over her in the crosswalk of E. Pratt St. and S. Chester St. before slowing down. The driver exits the van and walks back to check on the woman, who is lying on the ground yelling for help and moving around slightly. After several seconds, the driver gets back in his van and leaves the scene.
Another car had also pulled over by that point, seemingly to help the woman.
Emergency personnel and police showed up at the scene soon after, according to Fox Baltimore.
The victim has non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at a local hospital, per CBS News.
Neighborhood resident Aidan Shawyer told WBAL-TV he’s “just glad to hear [the victim is] OK,” noting that people often drive too fast in the area. “When I got home today, I parked up the street, and someone was going 40 mph down these roads, so people are just moving quick all the time,” he told the outlet.
“We were made aware of this terrible incident today,” an Amazon spokesperson told CBS. “The driver in question has been suspended from delivering on our behalf and we’re working with his employer and law enforcement as they investigate.”
PEOPLE reached out to Amazon for comment but has not immediately heard back.
