A columnist believes Democrats have nothing to fear after Donald Trump, who can’t run again in 2028, finishes his upcoming term.

In a piece titled “Shove the Presidency Down Trump’s Throat“, Jason Linkins of The New Republic argues that Democrats should overwhelm Trump with challenges, saying, “Wake him up early and keep him up late.”
He claims Trump’s far-right agenda eliminates any reason to seek national “unity,” and instead, liberals should focus on making him fully accountable for everything.
Linkins wrote, “Rather than wasting energy trying to force Trump out of the presidency, liberals should focus on thrusting the responsibilities of the presidency upon him.
Stop looking for quick fixes to the Trump administration and start demanding that his administration fix everything immediately.”
The columnist believes Trump showed during his first term that he struggles under pressure, mishandling crises and failing to deliver. He suggests Democrats should constantly hold Trump accountable for every issue, big or small, that arises in the country.
“They need to call attention to every broken system, every dysfunctional policy, and every negative trend, piling more and more tasks onto Trump’s to-do list,” Linkins wrote.
He also suggested, “Every day, they should appear on TV and in front of reporters with new problems for Trump to solve and criticisms of what hasn’t been done.”
Linkins also questioned why Trump, a wealthy celebrity living a comfortable life, chose to take on the massive responsibility of running the country. He wrote, “It’s puzzling why someone who was thriving as a rich celebrity suddenly decided he wanted to be responsible for an entire nation and all its issues.”
He concluded by advising Democrats to make Trump regret his decision to run for office. “In this situation, liberals should find creative ways to make Trump wish he had chosen to spend his golden years enjoying life instead.”
