A recent drone flyover of Tesla’s Giga Texas facility revealed something intriguing. Among the castings in one section of the plant, a red Tesla Model Y was spotted. This Model Y was painted in a deep red shade that hasn’t been officially released yet.
Tesla currently offers a few color options for the Model Y, including Stealth Gray, Pearl White Multi-Coat, Deep Blue Metallic, Solid Black, Quicksilver, and Ultra Red.
Ultra Red, which debuted in March 2023, replaced the previous Red Multi-Coat and is available for an extra $2,000. While Ultra Red is a vibrant hue, it’s not as dark as the Midnight Cherry Red seen in Tesla’s Giga Berlin.
The red Model Y seen in the drone footage, shared by Tesla enthusiast Joe Tegtmeyer, appeared to be a darker shade than Ultra Red.
This new color looked similar to Tesla’s old Signature Red, which was available for the Model S and Model X but hasn’t been seen since the Model 3’s early deliveries.

Tesla has traditionally kept its color options quite simple, but the new red shade suggests they might be considering adding a new, striking red option to their lineup. This would give their vehicles an even more eye-catching look.
