The decision to disqualify Willis came earlier that same day when the appellate court said the case had a “significant appearance of impropriety.” Basically, they thought the situation didn’t look right to the public. However, the court didn’t completely toss out the case.
“We cannot conclude that the record also supports the imposition of the extreme sanction of dismissal of the indictment,” the judges explained.
If Willis’s appeal doesn’t go through, a special prosecutor will need to take over the case, which could cause delays in moving things forward.
