After the bus started driving, Gibson reportedly said she had put her 2-year-old child inside the suitcase. This made the bus driver stop the bus and call the police. It’s not clear if she said this to the driver directly or if he just overheard her.
The video shows Gibson opening the suitcase and taking the child out about 18 minutes after she got on the bus.

She reportedly told police she put the child in the suitcase “to keep him warm.” However, police noted that the child was already wearing warm clothes.
Gibson also reportedly said her social worker knew she was going to put the child in the suitcase.
While the child was in the suitcase for some time during the 18 minutes Gibson was on the bus, it’s not clear exactly when or where she put the child in the suitcase, or if the child was hurt.
Gibson was arrested in January because of this. She’s been charged with child neglect that could have put the child in danger, as well as acting recklessly in a way that could have hurt someone.
Gibson says she’s not guilty and will have a trial later this year.
