A Wisconsin woman has been arrested and charged with arson after allegedly admitting she set her apartment on fire as part of a “satanic ritual.” Charmilia Jeffries, 36, told police she was trying to counteract “witchcraft traps” she believed were in her home.
The fire happened on December 21 at an apartment building on 75th Street in Milwaukee. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but the incident caught the attention of first responders. According to a criminal complaint, Jeffries asked her son to remove the smoke detectors in their home, claiming they were “suspicious.” She later told police the fire was part of a ritual and that people were “setting her up” with witchcraft traps.
Jeffries was arrested the same day and charged with felony arson. She is being held in the Milwaukee County Jail on a $7,500 bond. Her court date has not yet been scheduled.
