He reportedly told the dispatcher, “I just killed my girlfriend, my ex-girlfriend, I just killed her.” Several other people also called 911 to report a shooting outside an apartment complex in Springfield, Ohio.
When police arrived, they found a woman dead from a gunshot wound on the sidewalk.
One of the callers was the victim’s sister, who told dispatchers that Casimir had threatened to shoot her sister after they broke up a few days earlier.
Casimir told 911 dispatchers that he was sitting in a Kroger grocery store parking lot with a gun in his lap. He explained that he and the victim, who shared 5-month-old twin babies, had argued, and she had kicked him out of the house the night before.
He admitted to shooting her multiple times, repeating, “I just killed my girlfriend, my ex-girlfriend, I just killed her.”
He also told the dispatcher that he planned to kill himself but added, “We just going to have some fun before I kill myself. That’s it.”
When asked what he meant, Casimir replied, “I don’t know. I have no idea. Alright, bye,” and hung up.
Police located Casimir at the Kroger, but he drove off when they tried to stop him. A brief car chase followed, heading south on U.S. 68. The chase ended when Casimir’s car crashed. According to police, he shot himself in the head before the crash.
Casimir was taken to a hospital and later transferred to a trauma center for treatment, where he remained as of January 2.
