They suspected she was with her on-again-off-again boyfriend, Devontae Gray, at his home in Capitol Heights, Maryland.
When police first checked Gray’s house, they smelled something strange but didn’t find anything suspicious or see Alexis. However, later surveillance video showed that Alexis had been inside the house.

The video also showed Gray carrying construction materials like cement, cinder blocks, chemicals, and large storage containers into and out of the house on January 12th and 13th.
When police searched the house again on Sunday, they found a newly built wall. Behind the wall, under a stairwell, they discovered a bin containing Alexis’s body, which was encased in concrete and covered with soil and hay.
Police determined she had been shot to death. It took three hours to recover her body.
Police Chief Malik Aziz said there was a lot of construction work going on inside the house. He also said that Gray confessed to killing Alexis during an argument. They had a child together, and Alexis had two other children.
Alexis’s family made a statement, saying they were relieved to have found her body so they could lay her to rest, but that she would be deeply missed, and her children would no longer have their mother.
Gray is in jail without bail and charged with murder. His next court date is February 19th.
