Two men have each been sentenced to at least 22 years in prison for killing a dog walker in North London. Police were called to Kendal Gardens in Edmonton at 11:27 pm on October 1 after a report of a stabbing.

The car, which had been stolen weeks before and had fake license plates, was later found abandoned in a nearby parking lot. Bernard Carroll was arrested on November 6, 2023, after police tracked him down to a house in Edmonton. Josiah Semper, who delivered the fatal stab wounds, fled to Antigua but was arrested when he returned to the UK on November 17, 2023. Both were sentenced on October 22 at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke, who led the investigation, said: “This was a terrible attack on a teenage boy who was close to his home.
“Semper had a flick knife and delivered the deadly wound, while Carroll drove the car, knowing that Semper was armed and that serious violence would happen. The investigation showed the attack was carefully planned.
“Taye’s family has gone through the pain of losing him and hearing the details of the attack during the trial. While nothing can take away their pain, I hope the conviction of Carroll and Semper gives them some comfort.
“This conviction and the sentences show the serious consequences of carrying a knife, and should serve as a warning to others about the dangers of using such weapons.”
