A woman from Oklahoma was arrested after allegedly leaving her baby alone at a Florida casino.
Rubi Verduzco, 29, was tracked down by staff at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, on December 24. According to police reports, the baby was found in a stroller with a soiled diaper and was left at the bell desk by three unidentified men.
The men left as soon as they dropped off the baby, who had been alone for about 30 minutes before police arrived.
When officers found Verduzco, she was reportedly intoxicated and couldn’t even say how old her baby was. She used her Oklahoma medical marijuana card to identify herself.
Police contacted the baby’s father, who initially claimed he was in Oklahoma and suggested the baby be placed in state custody. However, he later admitted he was in Orlando but was unsure if he could pick up the child.
Verduzco was arrested and charged with two counts of felony child neglect. She is being held in jail on a $2,500 bond. The baby has been placed in the care of the Florida Department of Children and Families.
