More women have come forward with allegations of sexual assault against author Neil Gaiman.
Known for his works like The Sandman, Good Omens, and Coraline, Gaiman is facing serious claims from multiple women, including Scarlett Pavlovich, who once babysat for him and his ex-wife, Amanda Palmer... Continue reading here ▶
In a January 13 article by Vulture, Pavlovich spoke about her experience with Gaiman. She explained that she and Palmer had been friends since Pavlovich was 22, and Palmer asked her to babysit for Gaiman and Palmer’s son at their home on Waiheke Island, New Zealand, while the couple was separated.
Pavlovich said that while they were alone in the house waiting for the child, Gaiman suggested she take a bath. She alleged that while she was in the bath, Gaiman entered the room naked and joined her.
Pavlovich claimed she told Gaiman “no” and expressed discomfort with her body, but he reportedly insisted it was fine.
She further alleged that Gaiman sexually assaulted her, including an instance where he performed an act of sexual violence and made disturbing demands.
The allegations didn’t stop there. Pavlovich said that the abuse continued during her time babysitting, including a disturbing incident with butter as a lubricant.
She also said that Gaiman’s son started calling her a “slave” and demanding that she address him as “master.”
Pavlovich later reported that the abuse escalated, including an incident at a hotel where Gaiman allegedly had sex with her while his child was in the room.
In addition to Pavlovich’s story, another woman, identified as Caroline, spoke to Vulture about her experience. Caroline, who had worked as a caretaker at Gaiman and Palmer’s home, said she had a physical relationship with Gaiman after her husband moved out.
She claimed that during one visit, Gaiman got into bed with her while his young son was still in the bed, and without any boundaries, he allegedly forced her to touch him inappropriately.
Other women also shared their experiences, including Katherine Kendall, who met Gaiman in 2012. She alleged that Gaiman attempted to have sex with her on his tour bus, and later gave her $60,000 to help her heal.
Kendra Stout, who met Gaiman at a book signing when she was 18, alleged that Gaiman raped her in 2007.
Caroline also revealed that in December 2021, Gaiman’s business manager offered her $5,000 in exchange for signing a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) and leaving Gaiman’s Woodstock property. Pavlovich, who kept in contact with Gaiman, eventually signed a similar NDA and received $9,200.
Pavlovich filed a police report in January 2023, but the case was closed due to Gaiman and Palmer refusing to speak with authorities, although Gaiman provided a written statement.
Gaiman has denied all allegations since 2023. Despite the accusations, Gaiman continued working on TV adaptations of his books, but stepped back from producing the third season of Good Omens on Prime Video.
