Singapore’s Sedan Market Sees Tesla Model 3 Take the Top Spot in August 2024

According to recent data from Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA), the Tesla Model 3 became the best-selling sedan in the country in August 2024. This wasn’t just for electric cars but across all sedans, including both electric and traditional gas-powered vehicles.

In August, Tesla sold 186 Model 3 sedans in Singapore, making it the most popular choice in the sedan category. This is quite impressive, especially considering it even outperformed Tesla’s other model, the Model Y, which sold 122 units during the same month.

In total, 972 sedans were sold in Singapore in August 2024. With 186 of those being Tesla Model 3s, this means nearly one in five sedans sold that month was a Tesla. It’s particularly remarkable because the Model 3 is still considered a premium-priced vehicle in the midsized sedan market.

Other notable performers in the sedan market included a gas-powered Toyota and an electric sedan from BYD, both selling 128 units each. Hyundai also made its mark with a hybrid sedan that sold 102 units.

Overall, Tesla sold 308 vehicles in Singapore in August, accounting for 7.8% of the total 3,949 vehicles sold in the country that month. This is a strong showing for a company that mainly sells just two models in the city-state.

The redesigned Tesla Model 3 has been praised for its safety, advanced features, and value for money. Reviewers have noted that the new Model 3 is not just an excellent electric vehicle, but a great car overall. As the August sales in Singapore show, the car is clearly resonating with local buyers.
