Some of Donald Trump’s supporters are accusing Elon Musk of not paying them for their work on a “free speech” petition before the 2024 presidential election.
The petition, linked to Musk and his platform X, promised participants $47 for every person they referred to sign it, but many say they haven’t been fully paid.
One supporter, Cheré Woltz Oliver, shared on social media that she has been waiting over 80 days for payment from Musk’s AmericaPAC. So far, she’s only received $94 but claims she’s owed thousands. Others shared similar frustrations, saying they were paid far less than expected or received nothing at all for referrals.
“I referred like 12 people and just got 2 separate checks for $100 each,” wrote one. “Like WTF is that.”
“Waiting along with her with no response since 9th of October,” wrote another.
“Got my $47 but nothing for referrals,” complained another.
Some supporters also criticized Musk’s other business practices. One person complained about being overcharged for Starlink, Musk’s internet service, despite not using it.
“Not to pile in, but Elon – you said get Starlink and only pay for what you use,” they wrote. “Not so – you charge full $120 when it is still sitting in the box.”
Former Republican lawmaker Barbara Comstock referred to the situation as “MAGA on MAGA high school drama.”
