The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said Crabb met the girl in December 2023 when he was a substitute teacher at Haines City High School.
They started talking over email, then moved to social media and texting. Police said that after the girl, who was 15 at the time, told Crabb she had broken up with her boyfriend, their conversations became sexually suggestive.

Police say that from December 2023 to December 2024, Crabb and the girl communicated through TikTok, Discord, Instagram, and text messages. Crabb allegedly sent her sexually explicit messages, including photos of his crotch.
He also allegedly asked her to send him nude photos and tried to persuade her to have sex with him.
Some of the texts Crabb allegedly sent showed he knew what he was doing was wrong. For example, he wrote, “Uhhhhh, I mean is it wrong for me to be sexually attracted to a minor? WHO SAID THAT.”
He also allegedly said he preferred underage girls, saying, “Nah cause they won’t be interesting [adult females] It’s more fun to groom heh.”
The girl told her mother this month about the messages she was getting from Crabb, whom she called “Mr. Chase.” After the complaint was filed on January 21st, the Florida Department of Children and Families and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office investigated, which led to an arrest warrant.
Crabb was arrested on January 22nd and is being held in the Polk County Jail without bail. He is charged with two felonies: sending harmful material to a minor and illegally using a communication device.
Crabb last worked at Haines High School in March 2024. He was a temporary employee through Kelly Services, which fired him because he wasn’t working. Polk County Public Schools never received any complaints about him acting inappropriately with students.
After his first court appearance on January 23rd, Crabb was ordered to stay away from children and not to use any electronic devices that can access the internet. He is due back in court on February 25th.
