At around 10:42 a.m., a 911 call was made about a woman stabbing her live-in boyfriend’s dog inside their home, according to a press release from the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.
When deputies arrived, they spoke with several witnesses, including family members and a friend, who reported seeing the attack. Witnesses said Mileskiewicz fled through the back door after stabbing the dog.
Deputies found her hiding behind a tool shed in the backyard, lying face down in the bushes. When she refused to come out, officers physically removed her and placed her under arrest.
The dog, a 2-year-old male, sustained two cuts about 2 to 3 inches long near his backside. Although the injuries were not life-threatening, they were actively bleeding when deputies arrived. The sheriff’s office said the dog was being playful when the attack occurred.
Mileskiewicz admitted to stabbing the dog after being read her rights, claiming the dog was “bothering” her and that she became upset.
However, witnesses provided a different account, stating that she became angry without warning, grabbed a pocketknife, and started stabbing the dog. One witness reported blood from the dog landed on her clothing during the attack.
The dog retreated to a closet after being harmed, where deputies found small amounts of blood on the bed, wall, and floor.
Mileskiewicz later told investigators she “made a mistake.” The dog’s name, as listed in court records, is simply “Dog.”
She is being held at the Hernando County Detention Center on a $3,500 bail and has requested a public defender, citing financial hardship. Her arraignment is scheduled for January 28.
