Uber Drivers Can Now Accept Rides and Navigate Directly from Tesla’s Display

Tesla has made it even easier for Uber drivers by officially integrating Uber’s navigation system into its vehicles. This new feature is designed to simplify the experience for Tesla drivers who also work for Uber, making navigation and accepting rides much more convenient.

Tesla and Uber have worked together before. Earlier this year, Uber offered its drivers up to $2,000 to buy a Tesla Model 3 or Model Y. Now, Tesla is giving Uber drivers another reason to switch by integrating Uber’s ride-sharing platform directly into Tesla’s system.

As reported by Electrek, this integration allows Uber drivers using a Tesla to accept ride requests directly from their phones, and all the details, like pickup and dropoff information, will automatically show up on Tesla’s center screen. Uber describes the experience as offering “bigger and bolder navigation,” with all the trip details right in front of the driver on the Tesla display.

Another helpful feature is that Uber drivers can enable “battery-aware matching,” which means they’ll only see ride requests within the range of their Tesla’s battery. This feature helps drivers avoid worrying about running out of charge during a ride.

Both Android and iPhone users can take advantage of this integration, which is especially good news for Android users who sometimes have to wait longer for new Tesla features to be available.

Typically, Uber drivers rely on their phones for everything, from accepting rides to following navigation. But now, with this new integration, much of that information can be displayed directly on Tesla’s center screen, reducing the need to glance at their phones for directions. Tesla’s frequent navigation updates and live traffic information (for those with Premium Connectivity) could make this a smoother and more efficient driving experience for Uber drivers.
