A Florida woman, Terry Taylor, has been charged with second-degree murder after her husband, Stanley Taylor, died from injuries allegedly caused by a cane with an illegal blade.
Terry Taylor, 58, was arrested after police responded to a medical emergency at her home on January 13. When they arrived, they found Stanley Taylor, 67, with a stab wound to his torso. Terry reportedly told neighbors to call the police, claiming her husband had “fallen on a knife.”.. Continue reading here ▶
Terry told a neighbor that her husband was “cutting something in the kitchen and fell” on a knife and that he was having a “diabetic episode.”
However, while Stanley was receiving medical treatment, he told police that his wife had attacked him, saying, “The bitch stabbed me” and claiming she tried to kill him.
Terry admitted to having a physical argument with her husband over a stereo system he had sold to his brother. She said the argument escalated and during the struggle, her husband “stabbed himself” because he “blacked out.”
She also told police that they had struggled over a wooden cane and that she had grabbed another cane, a brass one with a sharp point. She even demonstrated a swinging motion with her left hand to explain what happened.
Police later found the second cane, which had an illegal blade attached. The blade was approximately 18 inches long and showed signs of being cleaned, with visible blood traces found during testing. Terry also attempted to clean the scene, as rags were found in the trash and on the couch.
A blood test revealed that Stanley was not experiencing a diabetic episode, and there was no evidence of diabetic shock. Stanley later died from his injuries at the hospital, with the stab wounds being close to his back.
Terry Taylor was charged with second-degree murder and is being held without bond at the Palm Beach County Jail.
