A woman from Arizona, Lora Flores, has admitted to shooting her boyfriend, Korey Wilson, and leaving him to die in his home. Flores, 40, pleaded guilty to a manslaughter charge last month, according to court records.
The Incident
On April 28, 2023, Tempe police received a 911 call from Flores at 2:37 p.m. In the call, she said she had been in a fight with Wilson, her boyfriend of seven years, and admitted, “I just shot him and f—ing left.”.. Continue reading here ▶
She also told the dispatcher that she had thrown the gun off the side of the road but did not specify where.
During the call, Flores claimed Wilson had choked her, but later said she had “said too much already” and needed to speak with her attorney. The call ended shortly after.
What Police Found
When officers arrived at Wilson’s home, they found him lying in a hallway with a gunshot wound to his upper body. The bullet had passed completely through his body, but it was unclear if it came from the front or back.
Investigators found bullet damage to a mirror, walls, and other areas of the house, along with fired and unfired cartridges in several rooms.
Using her phone’s location, police tracked Flores to her brother’s house in Chandler, about 14 miles away, where she was arrested. Flores had old bruises on her arms and a healing wound on her chest, but no fresh injuries were noted. She declined to answer questions, saying she wanted an attorney.
The Backstory
According to police, a friend of Wilson said Flores had been abusive toward him. The friend described how Flores would hit Wilson and verbally abuse him. Wilson had allegedly told the friend that if he ever turned up dead, it would be because Flores shot him.
On a GoFundMe page, Wilson’s brother shared more details, saying, “She shot him, locked up the home, and left him there dying.”
He also used the platform to raise awareness about male victims of domestic violence, pointing out that abuse against men often goes unrecognized. Despite Wilson’s tall stature and appearance of control in the relationship, he was reportedly trying to leave the abusive situation.
What’s Next
Flores is scheduled to be sentenced on February 28, 2025.
